Good versus Bad Web designs

It is easy to make a busy web page. It's also easy to make a very nice, clean, professional-looking web page even if you don't have much design experience. Often the difference, even for beginning designers, is simply a matter of eliminating certain features that are guaranteed to make a page look unprofessional. What I want you to do today is to decide what purpose your website holds, and make sure that it is functioning in the way you had originally hoped for. There are more important things to worry about and to work on then how pretty your site is in comparison to your competitors.
What really matters in the online world when running a business is that your site is easy to navigate, not to busy looking, all the codes and scripts are written correctly, and all links are working and functioning properly and more.
Your site should be simple, informative, and easy to navigate. Make sure your site stays on target offering your customers the products or services they are wanting, not distracting your customers with too many flashy graphics, hard to navigate links, or sites that simply don’t make sense and are more for decorative purposes.

GOOD WEBSITE PROBLEMS

1. Text that is big enough to read it and all in the same font and font color
2. Columns of text are narrower than a book to make for easier reading
3. Background does not interrupt your text
4. Navigation buttons or bars are working and easy to use
5. Your linking and navigation is consistent throughout your site
6. A larger site should also have a site map
7. Your linking colors should compliment not take away from your website
8. Links all work there is NO broken links
9. Make sure your buttons are not too big to detract from you are selling or offering
10. Make sure you graphics all match or have general theme to them
11. Graphics are browser safe colors and not to bright or bold to scare your customers away
12. That each of your pages download quickly without a huge graphic slag
13. All your pages are approximately the same size
14. Each site ties into your main theme by keeping the same graphics through out
BAD WEBSITE PROBLEMS
Default Grey Backgrounds show no imagination
15. Text is too small read and you use several version of texts which makes it hard to read
16. Your text is not centered and clean and attractive
17. Your underlined all your text
18. Your links are the default blue color instead of blending in with your site
19. Links that tear your customers away from your site
20. Large animated graphics that make your page load slow
21. Too many meaningless graphics
22. Broken graphics
23. Multiple blinking items or multiple animated graphics will slow down your site
24. Under Construction Signs or Under Maintance
25. Having to scroll sideways to view the website
26. Too many award photos you can have those on a separate page
27. Complicated Navigation area of your site
28. Broken links or link that leads to a page that it not there or a page under construction
29. Lack of colorful graphics that flow well
30. Too many counters on your site you only need one showing
31. Music that starts the moment you enter the site with no option to turn it off
